Developer, residents, police deem Wabash Crossing a success; next comes phase two - By THERESA CHURCHILL, Herald & Review, IL
Another way Wabash Crossing is changing lives is through a Step-Up program that lets low-income people learn construction skills alongside union workers.
Five have graduated from the program, which involves a 72-hour construction class, 240 hours of life-skills training and 3,000 hours on the construction site.
One has joined the carpenters union, another the laborers union, a third is working on a housing authority project and a fourth is seeking employment.------------------------------------------- posted 6:12 AM :: reference link ::
