'Too many memories' - Ex-union rep recalls 1966 bridge disaster - By NELLY ELAYOUBI, Ottawa Sun
Forty years ago this Aug. 10, a huge piece of the southern part of the new bridge collapsed, killing nine and injuring more than 60. It was the worst construction workplace disaster in Ontario history.
McKenny was the business manager for the union representing carpenters working on the bridge. He was leaving the Ottawa airport after returning home from Toronto when he learned of the disaster.------------------------------------------- posted 6:07 AM :: reference link ::
