'Unprecedented' situation killed 4 By Derrick Penner, Vancouver Sun
On May 17, after Erickson had been reported missing, searchers and would-be rescuers Bob Newcombe, a Teck Cominco manager, and paramedics Kim Weitzel and Shawn Currier went into the shed, breathed in the oxygen-starved air and died.
'We have clearly established the cause of death of the four victims,' Hermann said in his report. 'But this accident is unprecedented in the history of mining and the process that led to the oxygen-depleted atmosphere has not, to our knowledge, occurred anywhere else in the world.'------------------------------------------- posted 7:09 AM :: reference link ::
