Workers need 30-hour week more than ever By Martha Grevatt, Workers World The health consequences are drawing the attention of an alarmed medical community. A study covering the years 1987 to 2000 showed that half of all occupation injuries involved working over 40 hours. The risk of automobile injury while driving home likewise goes up. Overwork has been found to increase the risk of hypertension by up to 29 percent for a 51-hour week.
