New Poll: Rising Anxiety and Anger as American Dream Slips Away from Working Families in the 21st Century - SOURCE Change to Win, PR Newswire
Change to Win commissioned the comprehensive poll to provide workers
with an opportunity to articulate the type of actions they want to see from
their government to ensure that workers, not just corporations and CEOs,
can share in the benefits of today's global economy. The Working American
Dream Agenda is the follow-up to a survey six months ago that discovered a
majority of workers now believe their children are going to be worse off
economically than they are -- a stunning shift from previous generations.
'There are no red states or blue states in working America, there is
only a state of concern,' said Anna Burger, Chair of Change to Win. 'The
challenge to America -- from the corporate boardroom to Congress, from Wall
Street to Pennsylvania Avenue -- is to keep the Dream real for the workers
who are the basis of the new American economy and the next generation.'
The original survey, 'The American Dream Survey: Hope and Fear in
Working America' also found that a substantial majority of workers believe
if they join together in unions or industry associations, they can achieve
the Dream for themselves and their families. For more key findings from
August 2006, visit
