USW, CWA, IBEW Rally for Employee Free Choice Intimidation at Verizon Example of Broken System - dBusinessNews Pittsburgh (press release), PA
The United Steelworkers (USW) today (May 4) rallied with the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to support Verizon employees who are fighting to organize and to call for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.
As Verizon shareholders met nearby, more than 600 people from across the nation gathered at USW headquarters for the rally and another 1,200 protested at the meeting to send a united message.
“We believe if workers want a union, they should have it. Period. End of story,” James D. English, secretary-treasurer of the 850,000-member United Steelworkers, told the crowd.
