Washington state cites uniform company for worker's injuries - By SHANNON DININNY/AP
Washington state regulators have cited a major work uniform supplier for four safety violations after a Yakima worker's arm was reportedly shattered in a washing machine earlier this year.
The citations mark the latest troubles for Cincinnati-based Cintas Corp. In March, five members of Congress called for a nationwide investigation of machinery safety hazards at Cintas locations following the death of a worker who got caught in a dryer at an Oklahoma plant.
The company has 15 days from receipt of the Washington citations, issued Aug. 7 by the state Division of Occupational Safety and Health, to pay $13,650 in penalties. Among the violations: failure to ensure employees were safe from rotating or revolving parts, failure to ensure employees were prohibited from riding conveyors, and failure to ensure established rules and procedures provided a safe work environment.
