Investigators probe cause of sidewalk, scaffold collapse at construction site - by Judith Lavoie, Victoria Times Colonist
Wayne Peppard, executive director of the B.C. Building and Construction Trades Council, said new-worker programs are excellent. 'But, certainly, with the heated economy, you can expect there are going to be a number of incidents,' he said.
One problem is a dangerous combination of bravado and a just-get-it-done attitude, especially with younger workers. Others include the stress of frequent overtime and the vulnerability of workers in the underground economy, he said.
