New law would have cost small contractors plenty - By BENJAMIN KEPPLE, The Union Leader, NH
CONCORD – An about-face from the state Legislature will almost certainly trash a controversial section of a new worker compensation law that small contractors said would cost them thousands of dollars per year and put them at a disadvantage bidding for jobs.
HB 471 went into effect Sept. 14 requiring anyone working on a job site anywhere in New Hampshire to be covered by worker compensation insurance. Before, up to three executive officers of a company could be exempted from the requirements of worker comp insurance, which saved small businesses money.------------------------------------------- posted 6:38 AM :: reference link ::
