Death at work can hit hard - Wendy Mclellan, Vancouver Province, Canada
'If you've known someone for a long time, and spend eight hours a day together, there is a true sense of loss.' Last week, 24-year-old Victoria Re/Max realtor Lindsay Buziak was stabbed to death in a home where she was to meet a prospective buyer. In late January, 22-year-old Andrew Slobodian was killed when the crane he was operating tipped over as he worked on the Canada Line construction project.

In B.C. last year, about 60 people died on the job. Co-workers also die from heart attacks, cancer and in car accidents or from long-term illnesses. They all leave grieving colleagues struggling to come to terms with the empty desk in the office."
