Ontario irons out holiday 'wrinkles' - Jordana Huber, Canwest News Service
Despite opposition to Family Day in Alberta, when it was introduced, businesses in the province now can't live without the statutory holiday, says the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
President and CEO Heather Douglas said the malcontent being expressed over the new Feb. 18 holiday in Ontario is similar to the criticisms levelled at the province of Alberta when the statutory holiday was announced in 1990.
"There was definitely opposition at first," said Douglas. "It is now a very highly treasured holiday by Albertans and Alberta businesses."------------------------------------------- posted 6:38 AM :: reference link ::
