Women building futures in the trades - Victoria Handysides, Sherwood Park News, Alberta, Canada
“The women we serve are working really hard for themselves and their families. We want to give them a place to live where they feel pride in what they’re doing -- and they do, I’ll tell you.”
Archer said that the suites and facility are almost ready to go, and that Women Building Futures is taking applications right now.
“This work is not for the faint of heart. You’ve got to have moxy, you’ve got to have math and science and you’ve got to have that certain something to make a go of it in this industry, because it is a tough go,” she said.
Rempel-Witten feels that she’s ready to take on the task of working in the industry and that she’s got great support and resources when she needs a hand.
“I feel that I’m going to be very safe and well taken care of,” she said. “I really feel like I’m really a part of the big spinning wheel of commerce.”
