Feds file criminal charges in death of roofer - By Brandy Donaldson, Quad-Cities Online, IL
|According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of Illinois in Rock Island, the allegations against Mr. Vyncke include:
-- Altering the 31st Avenue work site by placing fall protection equipment on the roof after Mr. Whipple's fall.
-- Falsely telling an OSHA investigator the fall-protection equipment was on the roof prior to Mr. Whipple fall.
-- Instructing a witness he knew would be interviewed by investigators not to tell about the lack of fall protection on the roof prior to Mr. Whipple's fall.
-- Knowingly making false or fictitious statements to an OSHA compliance officer.
Obstructing OSHA's investigation is a felony offense.
