To President-Elect Obama - Harry Kelber, Editor, The Labor Educator
It's Working People Who Will Rebuild America, So Why Not Give Some Recognition to Labor
You have introduced a number of people for your new economic team, but as of today, you still have not named your Secretary of Labor, who should have a very important role if your infrastructure plan is to succeed. Why will there be so few important administrative jobs for labor people and progressives in an Obama administration? After all, the unions brought out the votes for you in Ohio. Pennsylvania, Indiana and other battleground states to ensure your election. We say this, not as a matter for a payoff, but because experienced people in the construction industry are needed in leading positions if your infrastructure plan is to succeed.
You have been an inspiration to all America. Despite the enormous difficulties you face, the vast majority of our citizens are on your side. But if the economic recovery program is to succeed, working people must be involved. It is their lives and their future that is at stake.------------------------------------------- posted 6:27 AM :: reference link ::
