Weyco says it's just trying to preserve the mill A handful of Carpenters Union members carrying picket signs lined the non - union entrance to Weyerhaeuser's Cosmopolis pulp mill a little before 6 a.m. today. They've been there four days a week for the last four months.
At issue, Carpenters union organizer Tom Shook said, is Weyco's agreement with a Corvallis, Ore. - based contractor, Greenberry Industrial.
"I see this out - of - state company coming with out - of - state workers, doing jobs that local people could," said Shook, a Hoquiam resident. "Work is real slow right now, so these are jobs that our people could be doing."
