Cellucci Wrong
BC Carpenters Union members should reject the criticism of Canada’s Iraq policy by US Ambassador Paul Cellucci.
The Bush appointed US official representative to Canada said last month that the federal government had abandoned America in a time of need and threatened that Canadian business may suffer unless Canada backs the US invasion of Iraq.
Cellucci’s threat rings hollow considering how the US imposed softwood lumber tariffs have already harmed the Canadian economy.
Sure we need US business but we are not going to sell our homeland only to get a raw deal.
Cellucci' wants to dictate Canada’s foreign policy the same way UBCJA General President Douglas McCarron wants to run our union from Washington, DC.
In fact McCarron’s infamous “govern yourself according” warnings to our union are worth about as much as Cellucci’s idle threats.
The continuous interference in Canadian affairs by American leaders remind us that we need block our southern neighbour from jumping the fence and raiding our garden.
