Senate bill would ax Canadian lumber tax A bipartisan resolution to the ongoing dispute over a tax imposed on Canadian lumber was introduced in the Senate last night.
The bill, sponsored by Sen. Don Nickles (R-Okla.), calls for "open trade between the United States and Canada on softwood lumber free of trade restraints that harm consumers," and urges a "fair and expeditious review by international trade tribunals to ensure a competitive North American market for softwood lumber."
