BCFacts.Org During the 2001 election, BC's government-to-be promised "a New Era of environmental management, based on sound science, cleaner water and sustainable practices." The overwhelming majority of government decisions on the environment, however, have rolled back protections. Examples include:
*Lowering standards for pulp mill pollution
*Promoting coal-fired power plants, the dirtiest form of power production
*Dramatically cutting environmental monitoring and enforcement staff
*Allowing expansion of salmon farming in BC waters
