U.S. mills flooded the market with wood diverted from an ailing Japan, a new study says
A new study of lumber supply and demand throws into dispute American claims that Canada has been flooding the U.S. market with cheap wood, depressing lumber prices in the process.
In fact, American sawmills have experienced an enormous production increase over the last six years, pumping wood once destined for Japan into the domestic U.S. market, according to the study by industry economist Doug Smyth.
