Severance strings could unravel shipyard package
SHUTDOWN: Irving spokeswoman says union decertification non-negotiable
The union representing laid-off shipyard workers doesn't like the condition attached to the severance packages.
Saint John Shipbuilding Limited is calling for the five locals to be decertified.
"Our primary concern is two months from now, they'll start hiring new employees for work our members could be doing in that yard," said Les Holloway, the national representative of Canadian Auto Workers.
"Our union has a problem with that."------------------------------------------- posted 10:48 PM :: reference link ::
