Labor Day's legacy By MARY L. SCHROPP NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The calendar notes Monday is Labor Day, so that's what Mark Cool will do.
'I always have to work on Labor Day,' said the self-employed carpenter from Edgewater. 'There's no real relaxation any more for a working man.'
Ironically, it was the head of the carpenters' union who first suggested a holiday to honor labor.
