Labor unions promote Gephardt's candidacy in Iowa By Matt Stearns, Knight Ridder
The latest polls put Gephardt in a pack of four candidates vying for the lead, but polls don't win caucus votes - organization does.

Not all of labor is backing Gephardt. Two of the most powerful unions in the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Service Employees International Union, endorsed former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean. Those growing unions generally are seen as the future of the labor movement, which puts further pressure on the old-line industrial unions backing Gephardt to deliver.
