Canadians relate to Democrats By LYSIANE GAGNON, Globe and Mail
A mainstream Conservative would be considered a Liberal in the United States, and a left-leaning Liberal or a moderate New Democrat would be a dangerous socialist across the border. Of course, there are right-wing Democrats and left-wing Republicans, but generally speaking, Canadians feel closer to the Democrats -- except when they cater to their supporters in the anti-free-trade labour unions and block our exports, as in the never-ending dispute over softwood lumber.------------------------------------------- posted 5:28 AM :: reference link ::
