Interest Groups Seek New Faces For Top Ranks By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum and Thomas B. Edsall, washingtonpost
A small group of union presidents called the New Unity Partnership has been meeting regularly to develop strategies to expand union membership. The presidents include Andrew L. Stern of the Service Employees International Union; Bruce S. Raynor of UNITE; John W. Wilhelm of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union; Terence M. O'Sullivan of the Laborers' International Union; and Douglas J. McCarron of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.
O'Sullivan, Raynor, Stern and Wilhelm have all been mentioned as potential candidates for the AFL-CIO presidency.
