Security chief recalls Giant mine strike CBC North
YELLOWKNIFE - The retired head of Pinkerton Canada filled in some of the gaps in testimony left last week by Peggy Witte, the former head of Royal Oak.
Witte tried to get Pinkerton's to cut back on its staff, the former security chief testifiedPaul St. Amour gave evidence at the civil trial Tuesday about security at the Giant mine.
Pinkerton is one of the defendants being sued by the Workers Compensation Board following the fatal blast at the mine in 1992.
The security giant, the owners of the mine, government and union leaders and individuals are being sued for $18 million by the relatives of the nine men killed in the mine by an explosion in September of that year.
