U.S.Workers Attend Toronto Negotiations with Quebecor World in Show of Solidarity Union Network International
Workers from unorganized Quebecor plants in Versailles, Ky.and Olive Branch, Miss. participated in contract negotiations on March 1 to tell the company that all Quebecor workers deserve safe jobs and good benefits.
Canadian workers supported their American coworkers by demanding the company respect workers' right to form a union free from management interference and intimidation.
The U.S.workers brought hundreds of cards signed by their coworkers and community members with them to the negotiating table calling on Quebecor World to respect workers' rights.
Management said it was "deeply insulted" by this show of solidarity and walked out of negotiations before the U.S.workers were able to voice their concerns. Even though workers did not get to speak at the table, they were able to make their point—workers in the U.S., Canada, and around the world are taking action to win better, safer jobs.------------------------------------------- posted 7:21 AM :: reference link ::
