Pickets haunt job sites By Kathy Robertson, Sacramento Business Journal
First came the questions. Then the pickets. They started showing up at local job sites in October 2002 with fliers charging that Anthony & Sons General Contractors Inc. doesn't pay its workers standard wages and benefits for the area.
There's been a steady barrage of pickets ever since. The fliers got nastier, with a photo of three escaped convicts in prison garb, labeled with the names of company owner Tony Anzelc and other execs. Pressure from the union and its complaints to state regulators led to payroll audits, fines, legal fees -- and to lost business when clients got fed up with the ruckus.
