    Fourth-graders get career options By Janet Sugameli, Detroit News
    “Instead of the same old ‘talk to the career person,’ it is instead ‘talk to the career person and actually see the equipment they use every day,’ which is much more interesting,” she said. “We hope fourth-graders will recognize some of the career options right in their community instead of just the lawyers, professional athletes, doctors and veterinarians that they all seem to want to be. And, since only 20 percent of occupations are in the professional or four-year degree arena, we need to let students know that skilled and technical trades could be the way to go."
