Bracing eyed in fatal cave-in By Geoff Oldfather, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
A forensic structural engineer who specializes in building collapses speculated that Thursday's fatal collapse of a condominium project in Hobe Sound might have been caused by inadequate bracing.
'Gravity never takes a break,' is what we say,' said Gregory Parsons, of Builders Engineering Corporation in Columbia, S.C. 'It sounds like they were putting load on the top floor of that structure and the structure collapsed, so shoring in some sense failed.'------------------------------------------- posted 6:25 AM :: reference link ::
