Teamsters and Communications Workers Form Alliance press release
The Teamsters and the CWA, whose combined membership is over 2 million, together represent nearly 100,000 in the airline industry. Considering the insecurity facing all workers in the industry today, the unions said it was in the best interests of the workers if the unions joined forces rather than competed against one another for the right to represent them.
'This historic partnership will provide a great opportunity for successful organizing and representation of the customer service agents at the newly- merged Piedmont Airlines,' said Jim Hoffa, Teamsters General President.
