ARROW LAKES GENERATING STATION RESUMES FULL POWER GENERATION Columbia Power Corporation
Castlegar –The Arrow Lakes Generating Station (ALGS) has now resumed commercial operation. Phase two of repairs to the damaged intake channel floor at ALGS was completed in July and after two weeks of staged testing to ensure the integrity of the repair, approval has been received from the Comptroller of Water Rights and BC Hydro to resume operations.

“Earlier this week, we completed testing of the intake channel floor repair. The final inspection indicated that the channel repairs have remained intact during testing and start-up, and the channel is in good condition,” said Wally Penner, Executive Director of Community and Regional Affairs for Columbia Power Corporation. “The powerhouse is currently operating at 100 percent capacity.”

“We have been assured that the interim operational repairs to the channel have eliminated any risk to the integrity of the Hugh Keenleyside Dam and the Arrow Lakes Generating Station,” added Penner.
