Tool kits to fix apprentice crisis Brisbane Courier Mail, Australia
Mr Howard told The Courier-Mail this week that Australia had become a victim of its own success with economic growth outstripping the supply of skilled labour.
'There is a skills shortage now. It's not a danger, it's happening,' Mr Howard said.
It is understood the new tool kit assistance will be available to new apprentices including: metal fitters, metal machinists, toolmakers, metal fabricators, welders, sheetmetal workers, motor mechanics, auto electricians, panel beaters, vehicle painters, electricians, refrigeration and airconditioning mechanics, carpenters and joiners, fibrous plasterers, bricklayers, solid plasterers, plumbers, chefs, cooks, pastrycooks, cabinetmakers, hairdressers and furniture upholsterers.
