    Trades slow to hire women, minorities By PHIL FAIRBANKS, Buffalo News, NY
    When Buffalo embarked on its 10-year school rebuilding project, there was hope that the $1 billion program would create a whole new generation of minority and female construction workers.

    Nearly a year after ground was broken on the first school, only one out of every 10 unionized construction workers is a minority and only one out of 50 is a woman.
