Workers on new Four Bears Bridge have come from all over the world AP, Bismarck Tribune, ND
The existing Four Bears Bridge was built by ironworkers from Lake Charles, La., said Mike Kopp, who is documenting the history of the bridge for the state Transportation Department.
Rena Whetstine, an ironworker also from southern Louisiana, is the only female ironworker at the on-water construction site for the new bridge. She arrived in mid-May.
Whetstine takes jobs 'wherever the money is at,' she said.
How did she get her start in this type of work? 'My mama,' she said. 'She was a boilermaker.'------------------------------------------- posted 7:00 AM :: reference link ::
