A Fall Changed His Life, but Not His Determination By STEPHANIE ROSENBLOOM, New York Times
His fall brought an abrupt end to his construction work and thus his income. But though Mr. Khokhar, 50, has a green card and is a lawful permanent resident, he does want not to apply for disability benefits.
"This country saved my life," he said in Urdu through an interpreter, Saroj Gambhir. "I don't want to be a burden on it."
When Mr. Khokhar says America saved his life, he is speaking about the medical care he received after his accident.------------------------------------------- posted 11:49 AM :: reference link ::
