Nonunion firms hit ironworkers with suit By Jonathan Saltzman, Boston Globe
Six New England steel-working firms have filed an antitrust lawsuit against one of Boston's most powerful and politically connected unions, alleging that the labor group has conspired to shut out nonunion companies from major construction projects in the region.
The federal lawsuit, filed Thursday, contends Local 7 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental & Reinforcing Iron Workers has sought to create a monopoly by colluding with contractors and developers to prevent nonunion companies from getting work.
