Small tavern has a wealth of atmosphere By Bill Lubinger, Cleveland Plain Dealer, OH
Pipe fitters and carpenters, cement masons and steelworkers, police officers and firefighters don't get buildings named for them.
Instead, they get their hard hats displayed on shelves behind the bar and add their union's bumper sticker to a wall plastered with hundreds of others.
Suits are welcome, but the dress code is bluejeans and worker coveralls, ball caps and do-rags. The only starch is from a stiff drink.
The exclusive Union Club is where decisions are made in private parlors. They're carried out by people in tool belts slung from all-weather gear -- the crowd at the other Union Club.
