All-women team on top of roofing business in Genesee County By Helen S. Bas, AP, Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, IN
Dismond's typical roofing crew consists of four women. If the job is a tough one, a fifth person is added. Currently, she has hired one man because she was unable to fill the position with a qualified woman. She thinks women can roof just as well as men, maybe better.
'We work smarter,' she said. 'Anything we do is planned out ahead of time. We don't take one step without knowing what's around us and what's happening. And we use safety equipment - knee pads, back braces, gloves.' As a result, the only injuries her crew has sustained are occasional nail scratches.------------------------------------------- posted 11:24 AM :: reference link ::
