Obama holds meeting with MII strikers BY PAUL AYARS, Lincoln Courier, IL
On the threshhold of a huge Saturday benefit that has raised more than $30,000 for striking MII Inc. workers, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama spent the first 15 minutes of his visit to Lincoln Thursday huddling with striking members of Carpenters Local 644.
And, during the scheduled town meeting at Lincoln College, he repeated his commitment to do what he can to help.
"He’s a U.S. senator," carpenters union business manager Perry Sundell said. "We met with him to explain how this is affecting the whole community,"------------------------------------------- posted 1:03 PM :: reference link ::
