This BC Carpenters Union bursary winning essay by Svea Vikander from Victoria is an analysis of the form and content of union songs in recent times.
Noted modem music scholar Mark Gregory recently asked, 'How do you write a union song?' Superficially, this question is easy to answer. Union songs promote unity and union enthusiasm among labourers; and they are usually vocal.
