Crunch time looming at Telus, says union CBC News
VANCOUVER The president of the union representing most Telus workers wants customers to cancel some phone services and change their long distance carrier should the company lock out employees.
Bruce Bell, president of the Telecommunications' Workers Union, says Telus has threatened to escalate to a full lockout, alleging that workers have been taking part in vandalism.
The company has already imposed limited lockout measures on its 14,000 TWU employees, deferring wage and vacation increases, suspending personal days off and not paying for the first day of sick leave.
