Long shot energizes labour vote - By CAROL GOAR, Toronto Star
The incumbent, Ken Georgetti, has the support of most of the heavyweights in the union movement. He is polished and articulate. He knows his way around Ottawa's corridors of power. And the labour federation has grown by about 1 million members under his presidency.
The challenger, Carol Wall, represents rank-and-file activists who feel shut out of the leadership of the CLC. Most of her experience is at the grassroots level. She bills herself a feminist, a fighter for social justice, a voice for minorities (she is African Canadian) and a reformer. 'We need to renew and reinvent the CLC,' she says.------------------------------------------- posted 12:20 PM :: reference link ::
