Bridge painter recounts 70-foot fall off Murray Baker - By ADRIANA COLINDRES, Peoria Journal Star, IL
Rodriguez said he had just shifted positions on a platform beneath the bridge and had not had time to re-attach his harness when he fell. A tarp beneath the platform where he'd been painting was loose, he said, adding that otherwise he would have fallen into the tarp, not the Illinois River.
Fortunately for him, two passing boaters plucked him out of the water.
'It was lucky that those people were passing by,' Rodriguez said in an interview conducted in Spanish. 'If not, they would have sent me back to Mexico in a box.'------------------------------------------- posted 5:05 AM :: reference link ::
