Workers told to speak up on labour code - Chris Zdeb and Susan Ruttan, Edmonton Journal
Concerned that the government opened the review Aug. 18 at the height of summer vacation and the review has not been well-publicized, the Alberta Building Trades Council has taken out newspaper advertisements aimed primarily at non-unionized workers.

The ad, an 'Urgent warning to working Albertans,' urges workers to protect their workplace standards by logging onto the government website and answering the survey or by phoning government officials with their opinions.

Unionized workers are aware of the workplace standards review, council chairman Richard Wassill said Sunday, but they make up only about 20 per cent of the province's workforce. The majority of working Albertans who will be affected by the review and any changes it may bring may not even be aware of the review, Wassill said.
