Outside Expert Finds Source of Moisture Intrusion That Led to Vault Explosion Last Month - SOURCE Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Two weeks ago, PG&E received a preliminary report from the independent expert, Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI), that determined moisture was the cause of the explosion. Today's report found the source of the moisture intrusion to be from an improperly seated gasket due to a misalignment of mounting holes in a flange attached to the primary chamber. Over time, moisture from the air seeped into the chamber, leading to a deterioration of the insulating properties of oil and paper inside the chamber, which lead to electrical arching.------------------------------------------- posted 5:05 AM :: reference link ::
