Anti-union practices are cited - AP, Pahrump Valley Times, NV
LAS VEGAS - Leaders of a new national labor coalition took aim at one of the largest U.S. hospital chains Friday, criticizing it for what they called anti-union practices and for using a 'Wal-Mart business model.''
Members of the Change to Win Coalition, which includes four unions that broke away from AFL-CIO this summer, rallied outside Desert Springs hospital and accused its parent company, Universal Health Services Inc. of 'heartlessly' putting patients in jeopardy by cutting staff. A Tin Man mingled with union workers to help make the point.
