Home, steel home - By Jeff Price, Philadelphia Inquirer
Last summer, the houses, built in 1946, faced demolition to make way for changes on the 270-acre Stonorov estate in Charlestown Township. But at the end of the year, the family, township officials and preservationists agreed on an elegant plan to save one as a historic treasure. It would be dismantled and placed in storage until a new owner could be found.
Now the search is on.
'Do you, or someone you know, want to be the new owner of an authentic steel house designed by one of the leaders of the modern architectural movement?' asks the Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, which is overseeing the rescue plan.------------------------------------------- posted 5:00 AM :: reference link ::
