Fading unions take new approach - By Jane M. Von Berge, Knight Ridder
Working America's purpose is to provide a forum for economic issues for working people who might otherwise be divided along social and cultural lines, said the group's director, Karen Nussbaum.
The majority of members, the group says, identify themselves as conservative or moderates. A third are "born-again" Christian and a third belong to the National Rifle Association.
