    The effect that the laws would have on increasing stress levels for workers was also a factor NEWS.com.au readers considered: 'I am worried about safety measures being compromised for high risk workers like truck drivers and factory manufacturers,' wrote Jas.

    But some readers recalled unpleasant experiences of unionised workplaces. 'I was forced to join a union or cop a beating in the 80's,' wrote Greg, who added, 'I dislike John Howard with a passion but I dislike unions more.'
