City to fight union deal - Hamilton Spectator, Canada
Four members of Local 18 have worked for the city under an agreement for more than 20 years. They moved to unionize their work last summer and sent a letter of certification to the city. The notice, which must be responded to in five days, didn't go to the human resources department. By the time the appropriate staff found out, the union was already certified.

The labour board later ruled the union followed due process.
